No prediction: Physicians cannot predict illness. If your child gets sick you will know why and know it probably won't be too serious. Let you both learn from this and not worry too much. Kids are resilient, even with us as parents.

? Sterilize ?: I thought the sterilizers were retired in the 60's. Unless the bottle had leftover crud in it before use it is unlikely it would hurt baby. It is only necessary to clean them as you would your regular dinnerware, with a bottle brush & soap and water unless your water supply is questionable. Crud on the inside of the bottle could harbor germs, but many would be destroyed by the kids stomach acid.
