Depends on your body: Most weight loss drugs that are commonly prescribed will speed up your metabolism, suppress your appetite, and some interfere with your desire for food. A couple of the latest fda approved drugs work on the part of the brain (the hypothalamus) that regulates your "weight thermostat". There is no one size fits all drug. See a weight loss specialist to find out the best strategy for you.

A DRUG COMBINATION: A good combination of medications for weight loss is adipex (during the day) and topamax (topiramate) (at night). This seems to give 24-hour coverage for increasing metabolism. Adipex, an amphetatmine, also reduces appetite but this doesn't mean you should skip meals, just eat less. Interestingly, a new drug has been approved that will combine these two. Of course, increased activity is also recommended.
