A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normal: There are cell mostly in the lining of the white of the (conjunctiva) that secret tears, and some secret mucous. Mucous is a normal component of the tear film of the eye, and is the closest component to the eye itself. Basically, it helps the liquid component of tears bound to the ocular surface. If there is a deficiency of liquid, or allergy, the mucous may clump or increase.
