Parents: One of the reasons children are required to have guardians is that they are incapable of making the decisions that they need to make in order to be responsible adults. It's even harder when they have illnesses like bipolar disorder. Accordingly, it is our responsibility as parents or guardians to make sure they are doing what they need to do. The parents need to take the initiative to be sure their bipolar kids take their medications. A daily medication dispenser available at most drug stores can help keep track of when meds should be taken. Ultimately it's the parents responsibility to be sure, their children take their medications.

The parent: Unless it is a teen approaching adulthood, say late 16 year old and on, then the parent bears the responsibility of the child taking the medication reliable. It is important to not miss doses as sudden changes in blood levels can lead to side effects. Take care.
