Not necessarily: Straight "a's" are not necessarily needed, but a true desire to assist others and curiosity & energy enough to want to study and learn, are. If you're only 18 you are either starting college or thinking about it -- and you can commit to working hard towards your goal. Get support and mentoring from trusted others, who are academically grounded and who listen well to you. Good luck to you.
