A member asked:

My hair came out as a teenager does that mean i have lupus even though the test came back negative?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Of all the patients with hair loss (alopecia), very few have lupus. The tests for lupus are very sensitive. While many people have a false positive test for lupus, false negatives are extremely rare. A dermatologist can usually determine the cause of alopecia.
