Question unclear: Is it every time you eat lettuce or did this happen only once? Lettuce can carry bacteria rarely which may cause an inflammation of the colon, but this would not happen each and every time. You may have an idiosyncratic reaction to lettuce, but this is the first time I have heard this. Simple - don't eat lettuce.
