Burning Tongue: Menopause - a burning tongue can be a symptom of menopause, with around 40% of females suffering from this during menopause. Additionally, it may appear before, during, or after menopause. The symptom occurs during menopause due to a hormonal imbalance, specifically low estrogen levels. During menopause, a woman's hormones dramatically shift and there is a stark decrease in estrogen.

Burning mouth: Burning tongue may be caused by dry mouth or a hormonal imbalance. See your dentist and if they rule out dry mouth, see another doctor.

Many possibilities: Burning tongue syndrome is a fairly common, but difficult problem to treat. From an ENT perspective, one common source of this can be acid reflux which affects the throat and tongue. I would recommend that you discuss this with an ENT doctor, as well.
