See an MD 4 CULTURE: I suggest you see your doctor for evaluation and culture. It might be that the bacteria is resistant to Amoxicillin (augmentin) or there might be an abscess or need a longer course of treatment.

It happens: Some of the nastiest sore throats are caused by viruses like mono. Yet strep can return and cause a new sore throat regardless of past treatment. Sometimes a family member is a silent strep carrier and can pass it to others and never be sick. Augmentin will kill all strep, but never effect viruses or prevent recurrence if re-exposed.
