Should be OK: As long as the syringe was clean... If you are that stuffy.. It might be allergy or a sinus infection... You can continue to irrigate but you should be checked by your primary care doc if it persists.

Nasal irrigation: Nasal irrigation is safe and effective. If you add 1/4 t o 1/2 teaspoon of pure sodium chloride (no additives) and 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda (not baking powder) to 8 ounces of body temperature water, you are creating a solution compatible with your nasal passages. The water should be distilled or previously boiled and allowed to cool to body temperature. Can use bulb or neti-pot or generic.

OK!: This is an effective treatment for nasal congestion. It is usually less uncomfortable to add a little baking soda to the salt water. Otc single-use pre-mixed packets of salt are available, as well as dosing syringes / neti-pot / etc. You may use this as often as desired (even 2 or 3 times a day) without major side effects. One good brand is neilmed sinus rinse (i am not a paid to endorse!).
