Genetic: Downs is cause by trisomy 21 tow many genes at chromosome 21. There are 22 pairs of chromosomes and two pairs of sex chromosomes. The extra chromosome on 21 is what gives people the features with increased or decreased penetrance. Cause by nondisjunction in meiosis when the chromosomes of sperm and egg combine, the extra chromosome on #21 cause the features.
