Many possible causes: Abdominal pain (tummy ache) is one of the most common symptoms a primary care doctor hears about. A diagnosis can be made after a doctor evaluates. Talk with your doc: Like dr. Kwok says, there are many different reasons - some more serious than others [including gas, gut blockage, female problems, kidney stones]. Lots of different plumbing with lots of different ways things can not work as well. Do some detective work. How long has your tummy been hurting? What's new? Anything you ate? Drank? Any new medications, over-the-counter things, supplements?

Anything: Most people think their whole abdomen is their stomach, but the stomach is in the upper middle or upper left of the abdomen. If your lower abdomen hurts, that could be your skin, muscles, bladder, uterus, or intestines. If the upper part of your abdomen hurts, it could be acid reflux, pancreatitis, or other problems. See a doctor for an assessment.
