Stress!: When patients are in pain, it causes significant stress on the patient and also your doctor. No doctor likes to see their patients in pain. Pain can cause heart attacks.... Also it may cause your doctor not to make maneuvers that he would have otherwise done because of not wanting to induce more pain! it takes two to tango! your doctor is a major element here too!

Not negative: Patients worry about colonoscopy and this stress can lead to worsening anxiety and discomfort. While partial colonoscopies (sigmoidoscopy) is done without sedation fairly routinely, the amount of air insufflation needed to do a complete colonoscopy is too uncomfortable for most patients. This causes them to move, which makes it difficult for the doctor to complete the examination.
