A member asked:

Sepsis always causes a higher or lower than normal body temp and low blood pressure right?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: A good rule in medicine is don't say always or never. Typically sepsis presents with high fever and shakes called rigors. But patients can also present with low temps. Severe sepsis can cause septic shock which is characterized by high heart activity (cardiac output) and low blood pressure. But septic patients do not necessarily present with low blood pressures.
