Not usually: Metformin is useful for women with pcos when trying to conceive, and in early pregnancy. It's safe to take for the whole pregnancy if advised by your dr. If you have or develop type 2 diabetes, or have severe Insulin resistance, then you may need to take metformin or other insulin-sensitizing medications long term or when not trying to conceive. Weight loss and exercise help Insulin sensitivity.
