All the time: The femoral canal (canalis femoralis) is a location in the human body, so it is there all the time. The location is at the inner, front part of the groin, where the leg attaches to the body, at both the left and right groins. It is possible for some intestine to push down through a weaker spot at the top of the femoral canal and become a femoral hernia.
