A member asked:

My boyfriend claims he was given a one-time single dose pill to clear up trichomoniasis. i'm skeptical about this. does such a pill even exist? metrodizonale was rx'd to me and took 5-7 days to go away. do men and women take different meds for trich?

Trichomoniasis can be treated with one large dose (megadose) of either metronidazole (Flagyl), tinidazole (Tindamax) or secnidazole (Solosec). Either Men or Women can take this regimen. Different doctors have different regimens that they are comfortable with. there is no evidence that one is better than the other.
