Tendonitis: Can present with very sharp pain, a common type of tendinitis in the wrist is deqervains affecting the thumb tendons but any tendon that crosses the wrist can be affected. Ice, nsaids and soft splinting may help, if symptoms worsen, are accompanied by redness swelling seek attention as early infection may present this way too.

By accident back of my hand was hit hard, in severe pain about 1hour. Still in pain but not as bad. Can move fingers and make a fist but when I try to lift index finger pain travels where it was hit. closer to wrist. Broken or tendon problem?
