No: The salivary gland you are likely referring to is the parotid gland. It could be what we calla sialolith, or stone in the duct of the gland. Usually it is sour things that trigger it. Check with an ENT or os, they can image the blockage. Good luck.

No seek medical help: Based on what you have written in your question you may have inflammation of one of your parotid glands or what is called parotitis. This can have many causes including bacterial infection or blockage. Seek medical attention immediately to properly diagnose your condition in order to obtain the correct treatment if warranted. Over the counter medications like Claritin (loratadine) may not correct the problem.
