Cold or allergy?: The simplest answer is usually correct. A recent cough and throat irritation are the hallmarks of a cold or allergy. If it persists, or gets worse and other symptoms present, an md consult would be wise.

Bronchitis pneumonia: Coughing can cause throat irritation. If you smoke stop. Suggest seeing physician.
