Several reasons: Your hormones are different. Also for some women the added weight puts pressure on the back, etc making it hard to find a comfortable sleeping position.

Cause not known: According to one study restless leg syndrome is seen in about 16% of pregnant women. It runs in families and if you already have it the chances of it getting worse are high during pregnancy.
