See below: No damage except a physical dependence. Otherwise, opioids also have hormonal effects.

No ongoing damage: But you certainly have dependence. This may not be a problem if you are receiving great benefit from the medication. Sounds like you might wonder about that. If you have been taking the med for a while you might have forgotten the benefit of the med. If you feel you don't need it, it is wise to taper the medication off.
