A member asked:

What are the tests needed to confirm appendicitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Appendectomy: The only foolproof method of diagnosing appendicitis is to surgically remove the appendix. We may suspect appendicitis based on symptoms & exam findings; a ct of the abdomen can be very helpful in certain cases. However, when suspected, it is best to remove the appendix rather than wait for rupture to occur.
