Does having a gingivectomy hurt?

Shouldn't : Once a patient is anesthetized it should not hurt. A soft tissue laser can be used and post operative discomfort should be minimal.

Soreness will occur: A gingivectomy is considered a minor peridodontal procedure that can be accomplished using a variety of methods. Generalized soreness will result and will diminish with time and proper home care.

Not usually ;): Depending on your individual pain threshold, your dentist can provide several levels of numbness to get you through the process without pain. Once your finished it may feel a little sore on the gums treated: similar to if you burned your mouth on hot pizza or soup.
