See below: I would start with rest, heat, anti-inflammatories. You can see your pcp who can add a muscle relaxer. Try massage. Gentle stretching may help.

Neck pain: Is it chronic or acute? If it happening suddenly and with a traumatic accident (car accident or fall)- receive a full work up by a physician. Your physician can provide muscle relaxants, pain meds (narcotics or anti inflammatory meds), and help prescribe neck support if necessary.
