Knee scope: A knee "plica" refers to a band of fibrous tissue in the knee joint. Plica are normally found in the knee and are usually asymptomatic. Occasionally, a plica may become thicken and therefore cause knee pain. If this occurs, the plica can be removed with a minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. Talk to your orthopaedic surgeon to see if surgery is indicated.

Plica: Plica surgery involves excising a snapping and impinging fibrotic soft tissue band on the inside of the knee between the patella and femur. The surgery is performed arthroscopically and should have a relatively uncomplicated recovery.
