Vitamins & good diet: Iron deficiency anemia is very common in pregnancy. In addition to taking daily prenatal vitamins, pregnant women with iron-deficiency anemia should eat iron-rich foods like beef, soy beans (edamame), and spinach. Also, the doctor may prescribe an iron supplement which should be taken with water or orange juice (vitamin c helps absorption), but not with milk (calcium may decrease iron absorption).

See your Ob: Anemia in pregnancy must be diagnosed, find ou d what is causing it and treated appropriately. Only your physician can do that. Your obstetrician may want you to see an internist or hematologist to assist in your care.
