Options:: It can be hard to absorb iron; you can try different formulations, some are designed to be absorbed in different parts of the GI tract. It is also difficult to eat enough greens and red meat to increase you levels. Your doctor can refer you to a hematologist who can offer IV iron treatments, I have had good success with this in my severely anemic pts. They also do add'l testing for types of anemi.
