Scaphoid Fracture: Scaphoid fractures are often not too painful and thus are often missed as the patient never seeks medical attention. If the fracture is displaced then usually there is significant pain that will cause the patient to come to the er or orthopedic office.

Scaphoid fracture: pain and a positive x-ray? Sometimes the X-ray my look or be read as " negative" The pain can be severe but there are many times that the pain is annoying and mild and comes on gradually and in fact ignored, this is why many non displaced scaphoid fractures are not diagnosed at the time of injury, especially with a so called negative xray. Deferred additional dryas and MRI may help
