Xray to start: Scaphoid fractures can be tough to diagnose. The first study to get is an xray. If you can't see it on that x-ray and the doctor remains concerned, often a repeat x-ray 1-2 weeks later shows it. Other options include a bone scan, ct scan, or mri.
