Possibly: If hormones are out of whack and estrogen depleted it may help but usually there is a relative estrogen dominance even in menopause and sometimes progesterone, like Prometrium (micronized progesterone) or a bioitentical cream, may be of more benefit.

Estrogen: Depends on the cause of the anxiety/depression, & what treatment u r receiving for them. If mood changes are related to hormonal changes & are not severe, some relief is likely.

Yes: I can't tell you how many depressed women i've given estrogen to or how many menopausal women i've given Lexapro (escitalopram) to! at 43, you may have had a hysterectomy and need estrogen first. It will help moodiness wonderfully. In a 55yo woman who is well through a natural menopausal process, a standard anti-depressant could be the answer. Try one, if it doesn't work in a month, do the other one (i have)!
