Hi. : Hi. You might start by talking to your gynecologist. She or he can check your hormones and get an idea of whether you are perimenopausal. There may be things that the gynecologist recommends that could help your symptoms. After a thorough evaluation, your gynecologist might recommend a psychiatric assessment. Perimenopause can definately lead to mood changes in some women (to included both depressed mood and anxiety).

I agree w' Dr Fowler: Even if the problems are related to hormonal or physical issues psychotherapy may help you cope with the emotional roller coaster of menopause. Many women find talk therpay beneficial at this time of life.
