That sounds like a: Good idea, to see how much soft tissue damage there is, get the wound cleaned up & dressed properly, & learn how to care for it. They'll prescribe pain meds if needed & tell you when to follow up with her pediatrician or a podiatrist. Poor baby! that sounds painful. If the nail bed is damaged, the nail will not look " normal" as it grows out, which can be a big deal if she's a young teen.

If she is bleeding: Or in terrible pain, yes, head to the er. But if not, i'd try calling a podiatrist first. She'll get seen faster and better if you can find a podiatrist to see her today than having her ferment in an er while all the chest pain people get bumped in front of her.
