That sounds like a: Good idea, to see how much soft tissue damage there is, get the wound cleaned up & dressed properly, & learn how to care for it. They'll prescribe pain meds if needed & tell you when to follow up with her pediatrician or a podiatrist. Poor baby! that sounds painful. If the nail bed is damaged, the nail will not look " normal" as it grows out, which can be a big deal if she's a young teen.

If she is bleeding: Or in terrible pain, yes, head to the er. But if not, i'd try calling a podiatrist first. She'll get seen faster and better if you can find a podiatrist to see her today than having her ferment in an er while all the chest pain people get bumped in front of her. Depending on how old she is, her tetanus may need updating too. Meanwhile, keep it clean and dry.
