Maybe not good sleep: You may not be getting good sleep depending on the volume and show. It may affect your rem sleep. If you are having issues, consider background "white noise" such as a fan or static maker. Consider natural sleep aids such as melatonin or valerian root. Find a night routine that gets you ready for sleep ie bath or reading, i would recommend against action films and definitely avoid doing bills.

Sleep hygiene: As with most things, good training is important. You have trained yourself to sleep with the tv on. "you must unlearn what you have learned, " as some famous person once said. The answer is sleep hygiene, which is developing healthy sleep habits. Here is a handout to get you started. http://familymedicine.tufts.edu/pdf/sleep-hygiene.pdf.
