Tough: Could be a uti, could be herpes( unlikely, don't freak out). Are you on hormones? Lack of estrogen can cause thinning of the tissues of the vagina abusing some pain after and with intercourse, it could be the back radiating anteriorly. I am afraid there is likely not a simple answer but start with bladder. Voiding more the 3x per night, pain with voiding, etc, would be my first guess. Good luck.

Pain: Could be many things. You need to see your gynecologist and get a really thorough history and physical including a rectovaginal exam. Your doc may offer scans also.
