Oral Diphyl-G: Thick mucus has been a real problem for my patients with asthma. Mucus thinning medications such as Guaifenesin present in Mucinex (guaifenesin) and robutussin has been very beneficial. One other item which i prescribe to patients is a mixture of Dyphylline and Guaifenesin (difil-g) which i find very useful to bring the secretion up because of additional dilating effect on airway. Please consult your doctor.

Asthma controlled?: The fact that mucus is a major issue makes me ask how well controlled your asthma is. There are so many useful medications available now that good control should be within reach for most people. Many take a long-acting bronchodilator to open their airways, and an anti-inflammatory medication to control the inflammation. There are many other possibilities. Drink lots of water and see your doctor!
