I have been having a burning sensation across my upper back and down my neck. there is no rash of any sort and the pain radiates for a few minutes ?

May be nerve pain: Often a burning sensation indicates a nerve being pinched or trapped the location of the sensation suggests the possibility of a nerve from the lower part of the cervical spine being piched. There are many other reasons but if this persists you should see a neurologist.
