See Amyloid: I do not know if you can see amyloid protein on 2 d echo, but it just sees some change in normal echo texture and can suggest the possibility of amyloid. If it is confirmedd, then it is called amyloidosis. Talk to a cardiologist.

Biopsy...: Biopsy can be performed for confirmation. Cardiac perfusion scan in conjunction with cardiac FDG pet scan can be used to evaluate cardiac amyloidosis.

Does pathology routinely test for amyloid? Recently had thyroidectomy and have smoldering myeloma so would like amyloidosis to be ruled out.
Testing for amyloidosis. Two 24-hr urine protein labs both showed protein 6.3mg/dl. 1st test was 140mg/24hrs from volume of 2225ml of pee. 2nd test was 129.2mg/24hrs from 2050ml pee. Both in range, but if peed more would have been over limit. Worry?
