What is the difference between an amyloid and a prion protein?

Amyloid, prions: Normal prion protein (prpc) is found on the outside of some nerve cells and lymphocytes. When prpc changes its structure into pcps (s for scrapie) it can combine into protein complexes that stain like amyloid but not all amyloid is from prps.
