A member asked:

If nitrites are found in urine, but have no uti symptoms; could there be another cause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No : Unless there is error or malfuntion of devices that determined the nitrites, its presence means bacteria are present. Mammals don't make this substance at all. If you have a UTI without symptoms this means you have bacteruria. This should be evaluated by your urologist.
