Diabetes immune syst: It may be that an overactive immune system causes type i diabetes in the first place but that remains to be proven. If the blood sugars are running very high then infections are much more likely and many diabetics will suffer from an increased number of infections. Keep the blood sugars controlled.

Not Necessarily: Increased risk of infection is common with diabetes, but that is often a side effect of the disease itself rather than an immune system problem.
