A member asked:

Does diabetes weaken your immune system? i've had type 1 diabetes for 2 years and it seems i get less infections than i used to before?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

In a way: High blood glucose level, above 180 mg/dL interferes with the function of white blood cells and can increase susceptibility to infections. Could it be that you are now controlling your blood sugar better than you used to. Please do keep good control of your blood sugar. Wish you good health.
