Please describe the medication: zetia (ezetimibe)?

For high cholesterol: This medication was introduced to treat patients to reduce high cholsterol and avoid fatty plaques in the vascular system. It is highly controversail and is recommended only as a last resort.

Cholesterol blocker: Zetia (ezetimibe) is the brand name for ezitimibe, a medication that works by selectively inhibiting the intestinal absorption of cholesterol and related phytosterols. Zetia (ezetimibe) acts by blocking the niemann-pick c1-like 1 (npc1l1) receptor that is responsible for cholesterol and phytosterol absorption via the intestine. In response, LDL receptors are increased causing reduction in ldl-c and LDL particle number.
