Ambien (zolpidem): Ambien (zolpidem) is a hypnotic medication used to induce sleep in people with insomnia. It can be habit-forming, and tolerance can develop. In some people, it has also been known to cause incidents of sleepwalking, including binging on food or or even driving while asleep. If a person has been using it regularly for 3-4 weeks, it should be tapered rather than stopped suddenly.
