Highly suggestive: Anti-thyroid peroxidase (anti-tpo) autoantibodies is supportive evidence for a diagnosis of graves disease in patients with thyrotoxicosis. The highest tpo antibody levels are observed in patients suffering from hashimoto thyroiditis. In this disease, the prevalence of tpo antibodies is about 90% of cases, confirming the autoimmune origin of the disease. In 60%–80% occurs also in graves disease.

Yes: Patients with autoimmune (hasimoto's) thyroiditis not infrequently have one but not both anti-thyroid antibodies.
