Endo = inside: Ultrasound=sonogram=using sound waves to form a picture. Endo=inside, thus endoscopic ultrasound means performing an ultrasound from the inside, typically your stomach/gut, vagina, or even inside blood vessel, using an endoscope. It is a fascinating procedure. Have fun learning. Good luck.

Internal ultrasound: Ultrasounds are usually performed with an instrument called a transducer placed on the outside of your body over the area of interest. With endoscopic ultrasound a small transducer is attached to a tube that is put down into your stomach through your mouth. This allows your doctor to take detailed ultrasound pictures of the pancreas.
