Yes, but: It usually is only done if some other study is suspicious, such as a ct scan for jaundice or abdominal pain. A biopsy is often attempted at the same time, if a mass is seen.

Potentially yes: Endoscopic ultrasound (eus) can be a good test to find pancreatic cancer if you have certain symptoms like yellowing of the skin (jaundice) or a ct scan that is vaguely suggestive of a mass in the pancreas. Eus has not shown to be effective in screening patients who are otherwise asymptomatic who are statistically unlikely to have any cancer. While safe, eus has known risks to the patient.

Yes. The scope: Enters from the mouth, travels thru the esophagus to the stomach, and the ultrasound probe can be tractioned to the pancreas, from the stomach, from the duodenum, or the pancreatic and bile duct. It can direct a biopsy to a mass or nodes to establish a diagnosis.
