Rectum biopsy: Rectum is the distal large intestine commencing opposite the sacral promontory and ending at the anorectal ring. A biopsy is a procedure that removes a small piece of living tissue from your body. The tissue is examined with a microscope for signs of damage or disease. Biopsies can be done on all parts of the body. A biopsy is the only test that can tell for sure if a suspicious area is cancer.

Taking tissue sample: Usually done as part of a larger exam like a colonoscopy, a rectal biopsy can also be performed without anesthesia in a specialists office. It can be used to diagnose a variety of infectious, inflammatory, or neoplasticism conditions as well as some rare conditions such as hirshsprungs or amyloid.
