Multiple: They determine infection in tissue, in bone, degree of vascularity, probability of healing depending in many factors , provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy if indicated and many more beneficial elements that you can not do at home.

Complete Wound Care: A wound center should provide a more comprehensive treatment for non- healing wounds. This would include nutritional, vascular and infectious disease management. The wound clinic would continue to evaluate and change treatments as needed. Surgical debridement is the removal of dead (necrotic) tissue. There are patient compliance issues addressed at home, as well as dressing changes and IV therapy.
