Pulp Tester: I think you are asking how a dentist would test the vitality on the teeth of a person who is grinding, to see if the trauma from grinding has caused and of the teeth to become non-vital. If so, the answer is a pulp-tester, an instrument that imparts a small electrical current on the questionable tooth. If the tooth feels pain, it is vital; if not, it is non-vital.
